We are a boutique consulting company specializing in Liferay Portal and Pentaho Business Intelligence implementations that has achieved rapid growth over a short period of time. We have an immediate need for Senior Java Engineers who have Java EE development experience and expertise using Spring MVC in an Agile SCRUM-based environment. Experience in using the MongoDB NoSQL database is highly desirable but not essential.
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about Enterprise Java development, are interested in gaining Portal development experience, and who are excited to join a team of talented consultants who are committed to being the best in our industry. Although this is a Senior role, we will also consider engineers with Intermediate-level experience who are ready to step up to a Senior role, and have a track record of excellence and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.

Duties and Responsibilities:
You will work as a member of the Portal Practice, and will be responsible for designing, developing, unit testing, deploying and configuring enterprise Java and Portal applications.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Design, development and unit testing of custom Java EE and Portal applications using Spring MVC and Spring Portlet MVC.
- General server-side JEE development, including integration with back-end systems and databases via web services, messaging interfaces, and JDBC.
- Web development using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery and AlloyUI.
- Development of Liferay themes.
- Configuration and customization of OOTB Liferay features such as Web Content Management, Blogs, Wikis, Document Libraries, Search, etc.
- Providing technical guidance to other team members and management.
- Assisting with operational support as required.
- Providing progress reports to Project Manager or SCRUM Master.
- Contributing to Portal Practice IP such as Java and Portal development standards, patterns and best practices.
Requirements:
Education:
BA/BS in relevant field required.
Technical Requirements:
- 5+ Years of Java software development experience.
- 3+ years of server-side Java development in a UNIX/Linux-based environment.
- 3+ years of experience in web-based development and consulting.
- 3+ years delivering solutions using agile methodologies such as SCRUM.
- Significant experience in server-side development using Spring MVC, Hibernate, and SOAP/REST web services.
- Strong object oriented design and database design skills.
- Object-relational mapping experience using Hibernate.
- Relational database development experience with one or more of PostGres (preferred), Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, and PostGIS.
- Experience with code maintenance, build, deployment and unit testing tools such as GitHub, ANT, Maven, and JUnit.
- NoSQL database development experience with MongoDB highly desirable.
- Web development experience with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, YUI or Liferay Alloy UI highly desirable.
- JSR168/286 portlet development experience using Liferay Portal or other enterprise Portal development platform a bonus
- Experience with data visualization libraries and APIs (e.g. d3.js, Google Charts API) a bonus.
