Veryable is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer specializing in Backend technologies to join our Product Engineering team. This pivotal, hands-on role is for an individual who thrives on solving complex problems, building efficient systems, and driving distributed system innovation, ultimately advancing our platform.

What you’ll do
- Build robust services and APIs to power existing and new features for our web and mobile apps.
- Design and build beautiful and user-friendly features, applications and web pages to support our marketplace and workforce management tools
- Own the entire development lifecycle of select roadmap features, including design, development, testing, release and post-release support
- Collaborate with internal users to support them, receive feedback, and plan new features for the platform
- Contribute to the growth of the team by mentoring junior engineers and performing code reviews to maintain high quality standards.
- Drive the adoption of high-quality code standards and maintainability through the practice of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing comprehensive automated tests
- Handle incidents on-call and participate in postmortem analysis and remediation efforts

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, or other backend engineering frameworks.
- Proficiency in database design and SQL, with 4+ years of industry experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- 3+ years of professional experience building frontend web applications using React, HTML and CSS
- Experience mentoring junior developers.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- 2+ years of with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Circle CI and owning the release process.
- Detail-oriented with a proven ability to take on complex problems, break them down, and drive optimal solutions.
- A relentless curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement, coupled with a winning attitude.
- Able to work in-office at our headquarters in Downtown Dallas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring on AWS, GCP, or Azure platforms.
- Implementation and management of message brokers like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS for asynchronous processing and inter-service communication.
- Understanding of front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
- Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems, including experience with profiling tools and load testing.
