This is a remote position.
mishmash io is a Bulgarian-founded company that designs and develops one of the most advanced distributed databases - a database that takes entire algorithms of application code as 'queries', optimizes them to run in parallel and computes the results at scale.
Software developers use mishmash io to build complex predictive algorithms right into their apps - using the same if and for statements of their programming language - and rely on high performance.
As the company is approaching a major step in its development - launching publicly our product on major clouds - we're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team.
Java is the backbone of mishmash io, and its code is mostly pure Java, with a few Apache open source components - Arrow, Helix, ORC, HDFS, Karaf; also ANTLR, OpenTelemetry and the official Azure, AWS, GCP libraries.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of Java itself - the compiler, virtual machine, core APIs
- Previous experience in distributed computing - for example Spark, Hadoop, or other
- Strong engineering mindset - to be able to distill the hardest challenges into their constituents and suggest how to tackle them
- Writing highly performant code
- Assisting Technical Writers to produce relevant technical content for mishmash io users
- Broad understanding of trends in software development to continuously improve our product
