Position Description:
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Java and Apache Kafka to join our team working on complex enterprise applications in the telecommunications domain.
The ideal candidate has good working proficiency in French, solid experience with event-driven and integration-heavy applications and is comfortable working in technically complex environments involving multiple interconnected systems and external partners.
In this role, you will develop, maintain and evolve Java-based applications with Kafka at the core of their integration architecture. You will contribute to application modernization and technical evolution while collaborating closely with technical and functional teams in a French-speaking environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain and evolve backend applications using Java;
• Design, develop and troubleshoot Kafka-based integrations and data flows;
• Work with relational databases and write efficient SQL queries for data access, analysis and troubleshooting;
• Analyze and understand existing codebases, technical documentation, application flows and system integrations;
• Collaborate with French-speaking functional and technical stakeholders to understand requirements, business rules and their technical impact;
• Investigate integration issues across interconnected systems and collaborate with partner teams to identify and resolve root causes;
• Participate in code reviews, unit and integration testing, CI/CD and software delivery activities;
• Contribute to application upgrades, technical modernization and migration activities;
• Ensure solutions follow clean code principles and meet quality, maintainability and performance standards;
• Investigate technical issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective solutions when required.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java enterprise application development;
• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in production environments;
• Experience developing and troubleshooting event-driven or integration-heavy applications;
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases;
• Experience working with Linux/Unix environments;
• Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines;
• Good understanding of software development best practices and design patterns;
• Ability and interest in understanding complex functional and technical domains beyond the purely technical implementation;
• Good working proficiency in French (B2 or above), both spoken and written – mandatory.
Nice to have:
• Experience with Kafka Streams and Kafka Connect;
• Experience with Apache/Tomcat;
• Experience with Maven and/or Gradle;
• Experience with Docker and Ansible;
• Experience with code quality and security tools such as SonarQube and Checkmarx;
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana;
• Experience with Jira/XRAY;
• Experience maintaining or modernizing existing enterprise applications;
• Previous experience with Kafka upgrades or migration projects;
• Previous experience in Telecom, OSS/BSS or network-related applications is a strong advantage.
