  • Employment Services and Workforce Development
  • Unemployment Insurance
  • Adult Protective Services
  • Child Support

  • We will have a reputation that attracts and retains talented, diverse, and dedicated employees.
  • We get better at what we do every day.

Office of Information Services

The Office of Information Services (OIS) works to support the business functions and the delivery of health, human, and employment services through the application of information technology. OIS supports the delivery of programs to millions of recipients through the development and round-the-clock operation of automated information systems. Due to the number of end-users and technologies supported, OIS is one of the largest and most complex IT organizations within Ohio state government. Learn more about the Office by visiting the ODJFS OIS webpage.

What You Will Do

As a Senior .NET Software Developer, you will be a key technical contributor in modernizing ODJFS applications that support sensitive workflows, legally mandated timelines, and essential program operations across the state. Your work directly strengthens system reliability, compliance, and secure service delivery as the agency transitions to cloud‑ready, scalable solutions aligned with State of Ohio Enterprise Architecture standards.

Expect to work with modern frameworks, API‑driven design, containerization strategies, cloud deployment patterns, and DevOps pipelines. You’ll also navigate legacy integrations, custom dependencies, and large codebases that require careful decomposition, performance tuning, and technical debt remediation ahead of migration. This position blends hands‑on engineering with architectural alignment, risk mitigation, and PMO‑driven documentation and deliverable support.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Refactor legacy .NET Framework components to align with modern architectural standards such as .NET 6/7, microservices, and OIT‑approved platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, identity management, logging, monitoring, and accessibility requirements.
  • Support migration to containerized, API‑driven, cloud‑ready deployment models including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, and Kubernetes.
  • Prepare and contribute to system architecture documentation, Technical Design Specifications, and modernization work packages.
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept prototypes to validate cloud deployment patterns and modernization approaches.
  • Decompose monolithic components, resolve technical debt, and stabilize legacy modules ahead of migration.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and continuity of operations during modernization activities.
  • Redesign service layers and implement secure, optimized RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core to support modern, responsive front‑end frameworks.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance testing, defect remediation, and technical risk mitigation.
  • Support automated deployment pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and DevOps practices through Azure DevOps or equivalent tools.
  • Assist state staff and developers through mentoring, establishing modern coding standards, and strengthening internal technical capacity.
  • Help reduce long‑term operational and compliance risks by ensuring data integrity, security, and reliable support of legally mandated workflows.
