We're seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer / Technical Team Lead to serve as the primary software developer on a small engineering team supporting a major enterprise technology modernization initiative.
This is primarily a hands-on software engineering role (approximately 80% software development and 20% technical leadership). The successful candidate will serve as the team's lead developer while working closely with project leadership and providing day-to-day technical guidance, mentoring, and code reviews for a small team of software engineers.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys writing high-quality code, solving difficult technical problems, mentoring other developers, and helping establish modern software engineering practices that will support the organization for years to come.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary hands-on software developer for the engineering team.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise software applications and backend services.
- Lead implementation of complex technical solutions from design through deployment.
- Provide day-to-day technical leadership for a small software engineering team.
- Mentor junior and mid-level software engineers.
- Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
- Perform code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Develop reliable integrations with enterprise systems and databases.
- Design and develop ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes for enterprise data integration.
- Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and database issues.
- Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, and project leadership.
- Participate in Agile planning, estimation, sprint execution, and continuous improvement activities.
- Help establish long-term software engineering standards, documentation, and development practices.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong Java development experience.
- Strong Python development experience.
- Experience designing scalable backend applications and distributed systems.
- Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications and external APIs.
- Experience designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes.
- Experience using Git in collaborative development environments.
- Experience working with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and common software design patterns.
- Experience mentoring software engineers and leading technical discussions.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- React and/or Next.js for modern web application development.
- Python with FastAPI or similar modern API frameworks.
- Java and Spring Boot for enterprise application development.
- Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse technologies.
- PostgreSQL or other enterprise relational database platforms.
- Designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes and enterprise data integration pipelines.
- Asynchronous or distributed processing using technologies such as Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS, or similar messaging and worker queue platforms.
- Designing scalable RESTful API architectures supporting high-concurrency workloads.
- Containerization using Docker and modern deployment practices.
- CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
- Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
