Job description

Overview

Microsoft is a company where passionate innovators come to collaborate, envision what can be, and take their careers further. This is a world of more possibilities, more innovation, more openness, and limitless thinking in a cloud-enabled world.

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging and real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Our portfolio includes Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.

Within Azure Data, the Messaging and Real-Time Analytics team provides comprehensive solutions and a robust platform that enables users to ingest high-granularity signals, observability data, and complex event streams, converting them into actionable insights and competitive advantage in real time.

We are building the next generation of real-time data experiences in Microsoft Fabric, enabling customers to ingest, process, visualize, and act on streaming data at massive scale. The Real-Time Hub team sits at the center of this vision, connecting data ingestion, event processing, and downstream insights across Fabric workloads such as Eventstream, Activator, and beyond.

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build intuitive, scalable, and high-performance front-end experiences that power real-time analytics and decision-making for enterprise customers. You will work across Microsoft Fabric experiences, transforming complex data, AI, and streaming scenarios into seamless, customer-focused web applications. This role requires a passion for front-end engineering and a strong ability to turn sophisticated data and analytics workflows into intuitive, actionable, and visually compelling user experiences.

In this role, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers across Microsoft Fabric to create modern, accessible, and responsive user experiences. You will contribute to the front-end architecture of key product experiences while ensuring usability, reliability, performance, and maintainability at scale.

Our team operates at the intersection of distributed systems, data platforms, and user-facing experiences, with a strong emphasis on telemetry-driven iteration, experimentation, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate across teams to shape product direction, influence user experience strategy, and deliver high-quality solutions that help customers gain value from real-time data.

If you are excited about building exceptional web experiences, solving complex technical challenges, and influencing how real-time data is experienced across Microsoft Fabric, this is an opportunity to work on highly visible products with broad customer impact.

We do not just value differences or different perspectives. We seek them out and invite them in so we can tap into the collective power of everyone in the company. As a result, our customers are better served.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deliver modern front-end experiences using industry-standard web technologies and frameworks ( TypeScript, React (or comparable frameworks).
  • Build intuitive, accessible, responsive, and performant user interfaces that help customers discover, analyze, and act on real-time data.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX Design, and engineering partners to translate customer needs into impactful user experiences.
  • Develop maintainable, production-ready code and contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Use telemetry, experimentation, and customer feedback to measure success and drive ongoing improvements in usability and performance.
  • Contribute to front-end architecture, shared UI components, and engineering best practices across Microsoft Fabric experiences.
  • Partner with services and platform teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end customer scenarios across multiple interconnected systems.
  • Identify and resolve reliability, scalability, accessibility, and performance issues affecting customer experiences.
Participate in architectural discussions and help make technical decisions that balance immediate business needs with long-term maintainability.
  • Drive improvements in automation, quality, accessibility compliance, and user experience consistency.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams, communicate progress clearly, and help build alignment around shared goals and customer outcomes.
  • Embody our culture and values.
