Job Summary: Ensures application of systems thinking principles, allowing team members to independently design, code, test, and deploy software. Provide the necessary documentation to support the software Development Life Cycle. Develop prototypes and solutions leveraging a diverse range of technology. Apply modern principles, methodologies, tools, and systemic processes to support the launch new business capabilities.
Duties/Responsibilities: As a Software Developer III, the candidate will be working other developers and testers as part of a scrum team that supports Java applications used by FedEx Express Pickup Operations across the globe. The primary responsibility will be to support modernization of legacy apps, with specific daily duties including:
- Developing cloud ready applications in Java/Spring Boot for PCF deployments
- Working on modernization of legacy apps to public cloud deployments
- Work with developers/testers to integrate automation testing/shift-left coverage into CI/CD pipelines for deployed features, stories, and defect fixes
- Maintain documentation on dev, test, and prod environment configurations
- Work with team members to solve production support issues as needed
- Refine monitoring processes for applications and environments ensuring high system availability in dev, test and release environments
- Serve as a technical lead to define, document, and maintain a build and release strategy for scrum teams, using enterprise best practices for cloud
Abilities/Knowledge/Skills Considered a Plus: Strong coding and scripting skills. Preferred experience with Java applications and APIs.
- Experience using DevOps, CI/CD toolchains: VersionOne, Eclipse, Git, Jenkins, Gradle, Maven
- Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) deployments
- Experience with application development frameworks, including Spring Boot
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and automation best practices
- Experience with Cloud computing
- Experience with Linux, networking protocols: HTTP/HTTPS, REST-ful interfaces.
- Experience with JMS enabled applications
- Ability to instrument applications with monitoring tools, such as AppD and Splunk, and use to resolve issues
- Ability to solve problems in dev, test and prod environments.
- Good understanding of and willingness to learn and adopt professional and industry standards.
Domicile: This position will be domiciled in Collierville, TN Colorado, Springs CO.
Remote Work: The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.
