Transformar los requisitos funcionales y no funcionales del producto en componentes de software (código fuente) que cumplan con las especificaciones, las directrices arquitectónicas y los estándares de codificación. Esto incluye comprender las especificaciones/requisitos; diseñar, codificar y probar componentes de software de forma unitaria; automatizar las pruebas unitarias; comentar/documentar el código conforme a los estándares; aplicar protocolos de gestión de configuración de software (SCM) e integrar componentes en el producto de software; corregir los defectos de código detectados durante las pruebas o el desbloqueo.
