Role summary
Build the distributed data plane that powers DataGOL's governed execution layer.
About the role
What you'll do
DataGOL is building the layer that lets governed AI systems read, reason, and act on enterprise data without breaking the rules. As a Software Engineer on the Data Systems team, you'll own the components that make those promises real — from query planning to execution to lineage.
You will work closely with our AI, product, and infrastructure teams. The systems you ship will run inside the largest data environments in the world.
Day to day
What you'll own
- Design and ship distributed services that power DataGOL's governed execution layer.
- Own end-to-end delivery from architecture to monitoring in production.
- Collaborate with product, AI, and infrastructure teams on system-wide tradeoffs.
- Raise the technical bar through reviews, mentorship, and architectural docs.
What we're looking for

- 5+ years building production backend or distributed systems.
- Strong fundamentals in concurrency, data modeling, and API design.
- Experience operating services with high availability requirements.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
Bonus
Nice to have
- Experience with streaming systems (Kafka, Flink, Materialize).
- Background in compiler, query, or planner internals.
- Open-source contributions in data infrastructure.
