We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer in Austin, TX

Job Duties: Design, develop, and deploy multiple applications, providing necessary support and maintenance activities. Build and implement micro-service with high concurrency service design and optimization. Ensure that code is well-commented, easy to maintain, and can be reused across a sub-system or feature. Thoroughly test code and run unit tests to eliminate bugs. Troubleshoot and solve tech challenges including high scalability, low latency, and high availability using the cutting-edge micro-service and big data technology. Lead feature or sub-system design reviews and code reviews. Work with business partners to enable the world-class compliance platform in PayPal. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and at least one language such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python (1 year)

2. Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs for reliable communication between distributed systems (1 year)

3. Building and deploying backend applications and services using Spring Boot framework (1 year)

4. Relational databases, data modeling, and query development. (1 year)

5. Writing efficient SQL queries and improving database performance. (1year)

6. Message-driven systems and asynchronous communication using standard tools and frameworks. (1 year)

7. Designing scalable, distributed applications and service-based architectures on cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS. (1 year)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is: 

Primary Location | Pay Range: 

Austin, Texas | Salary: $163,550.00-180,000.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
