POSITION OVERVIEW:

Rajant Health is looking for a Software Engineering Intern with an Electrical Engineering background who is comfortable working across embedded hardware, Linux systems, and software development. This is a hands-on role involving device assembly, system bring-up, hardware testing, and development of tools used to provision and configure embedded computing platforms.

The intern will work with platforms such as Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson-based modules, supporting both hardware integration and the software workflows required to prepare devices for deployment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assemble and bring up embedded computing systems, including Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson-based platforms.

· Build, modify, and troubleshoot cables, wiring harnesses, adapters, and peripheral connections.

· Flash operating systems, firmware, bootloaders, and application images onto Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA modules.

· Configure and troubleshoot Linux-based embedded systems.

· Test and validate hardware interfaces and peripherals, including USB, HDMI, Ethernet, serial/UART, GPIO, storage, cameras, and other attached devices.

· Diagnose hardware/software integration issues using logs, command-line utilities, electrical measurements, and systematic testing.

· Create repeatable hardware bring-up and validation procedures.

· Support testing of new boards, modules, peripherals, and system configurations.

· Develop & improve an existing web-based device flashing and provisioning tool, with particular emphasis on automating the flashing & configuration of NVIDIA Jetson systems.

· Improve the flashing tool’s usability, reliability, error handling, logging, device detection, and progress reporting.

· Automate manual provisioning and configuration steps using scripts and APIs.

· Document hardware configurations, flashing procedures, test results, and software workflows.

DESIRED BACKGROUND:

· Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong interest in embedded systems.

· Comfortable physically assembling and troubleshooting electronic hardware.

· Familiarity with Linux and command-line tools.

· Experience with Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, or similar ARM-based embedded platforms is highly desirable.

· Basic understanding of interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, HDMI, UART, I²C, SPI, and GPIO.

· Ability to solder, make cables, use a multimeter, and troubleshoot basic electrical connectivity is desirable.

· Programming experience in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or similar languages.

· Familiarity with web application development, REST APIs, or backend services is beneficial.

· Experience with Git and basic software development workflows.

· Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to work across both hardware and software.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

This internship provides practical experience across the complete embedded-device lifecycle—from assembling and bringing up hardware to building software that automates device provisioning. The intern will gain hands-on experience with embedded Linux, NVIDIA Jetson systems, Raspberry Pi, peripheral integration, hardware debugging, system automation, and web-based manufacturing/provisioning tools.
