Provide technical leadership across multiple domains and/or value streams. Serve as an expert resource to advise other teams and recommend solutions to technical design problems. Ensures application of systems thinking principles, allowing team members to independently design, code, test,and deploy software. Provide the necessary documentation to support the Software Development Life Cycle. Develop prototypes and solutions leveraging a diverse range of technology. Advise in the application of modern architectures, principles, methodologies, tools, and systemic processes to support the launch of new business capabilities. Lead the resolution of highly complex problems. Mentor development of those in less senior positions.
Additional Job Details:
- The Systems team is the core backbone of all infrastructure and our overall operations platform. This team is responsible for providing infrastructure and tooling that will run all workloads at Fedex Dataworks.
- Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure and the overall Operations Platform at Dataworks. Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for other operations teams and applications Developers alike.
- Enable teams to get code from their local machines to our cloud environments in a manner that is efficient while maintaining our security and compliance.
- The Systems Engineering team will also collaborate with peers and the organization level Reliability Engineering and DevSecOps Enablement groups.
- The Systems Engineering team will focus on enabling both the operations teams and the development teams through tooling, automation, and by evangelizing best practices.
- This is a technical lead role with an emphasis on strong coaching, mentoring, and communication skills utilizing multiple forms of media to drive continuous improvement across the value stream.
- Successful candidates will be required to develop a strong understanding of how their IT value stream supports the FedEx business, including the ability to help their business partners articulate and document system expectations and impacts.
- Strong experience with Linux systems engineering
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform
- Proven history of managing and maintaining continuous integration platforms such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps or Github Actions
- Multiple years of experience running and building systems in cloud environments i.e. Azure, GCP
- Proven history supporting and maintaining a 24x7 online business
- Proven history of eliminating toil via automation
- Strong experience with programming languages like Python, Ruby, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with monitoring and alerting systems like Prometheus, Graphana, Datadog.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Requires five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.

This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States.
