Job Description
Please note that this is a contractor conversion position and will be filled by a current contract employee.
Bold Thinking. What does it take to advance the limits of technology? At BAE Systems, it means joining an innovator in the next generation of combat vehicles and bringing mission-critical software to life with uncompromising quality. Our Combat Mission Systems team is hiring a Senior Software Test & Integration Engineer who is passionate about real‑time, embedded systems and ready to lead verification, validation, and system integration—from the lab to the tactical vehicle.
What you’ll do
As a Senior Software Test & Integration Engineer, you will:
- Own the test strategy & integration plan for complex, real‑time embedded software—defining V&V approaches, coverage goals, entry/exit criteria, and integration sequencing across subsystems.
- Lead test planning and execution: Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, scripts, and scenarios for SIL/HIL environments and on‑vehicle testing; manage Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and Integration Readiness Reviews (IRR).
- Drive requirements traceability: Establish and maintain full traceability from requirements to test cases, results, and defects; ensure every requirement is verified and validated.
- Automate where it matters: Build and maintain automated test suites and harnesses (e.g., Python, C/C++), integrate them into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins/GitLab CI), and track coverage metrics to improve release confidence.
- Execute system‑level integration in the software lab and on tactical vehicles, collecting data and logs across CAN/CAN FD, Ethernet, 1553, and serial interfaces; use tools such as Vector CANoe/CANalyzer and Wireshark to analyze behavior.
- Perform advanced fault isolation & root cause analysis: Reproduce complex defects, triage issues across software/hardware/interfaces, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and drive corrective actions to closure.
- Assure compliance and quality: Verify designs against engineering principles, applicable standards, and product requirements; prepare formal test reports and product assurance artifacts that support qualification/acceptance.
- Mentor and influence: Conduct and lead reviews (requirements, design, code, and test), coach junior engineers, and champion continuous improvement in processes, tools, and automation.
- Support configuration & release management: Validate baselines and release candidates, manage change requests, and ensure defect resolution aligns with schedule and risk plans.
- Collaborate across the program: Partner closely with systems, software, hardware, safety, and supplier teams to manage integration dependencies, mitigate risks, and keep the program on track.
