Responsibilities
- Design robust, standardized integration layers that connect automation systems with LIMS workflows
- Implement fault-tolerant patterns, state management, and recovery mechanisms to handle device and network failures
- Deliver end-to-end monitoring, logging, and device telemetry to keep systems reliable
- Design, model, and govern a scalable, decoupled business rules engine
- Maintain rules versioning, traceability, and safe rollout processes without disrupting operations
- Build scalable, modular systems that allow frontend and backend to evolve independently
- Apply caching, async processing, and secure-by-design practices across the architecture
- Define and document contract-first APIs, including versioning and secure interfaces
- Guarantee complete auditability and end-to-end traceability of experimental data flows
- Coach engineers via code reviews, pair programming, and architecture walkthroughs
- Foster autonomy, knowledge sharing, and full-stack system thinking across teams
- Drive features end-to-end, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in solution architecture within lab automation environments, including LIMS, device integration, and Business Process Automation using rules engines
- Proficiency with Go (Golang), Ruby, and Elixir for designing and implementing platform components
- Advanced expertise in Ruby on Rails and Phoenix Framework for building scalable application layers
- Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle), plus exposure to NoSQL and key-value stores
- Strong experience designing and integrating REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs
- Practical skills with AWS services, including Elastic Container Service (ECS), Simple Storage Service (S3), and Application Load Balancer (ALB)
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Docker containerization, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)
- Advanced competency with Git, including code review best practices and effective branching/merging strategies
- Solid understanding of unit testing, integration testing, and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, with a mindset of continuous learning
- Proven background in ITIL-managed organizations, paired with strong problem-solving skills and excellent cross-functional communication
