Job description

Location: Austin, TX 

Facility: Ascension Texas Imaging - Lamar
Department/Specialty: Imaging

Schedule: Days | PRN 

  • Perform diagnostic medical sonography procedures using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structures for accurate clinical interpretation.
  • Operate and adjust specialized imaging equipment while manually maneuvering transducers to capture high-quality diagnostic images for patient care.
  • Implement rigorous safety protocols and quality control procedures to ensure equipment functionality and maintain high standards of patient safety.
  • Coordinate routine and complex ultrasound studies, effectively recognizing significant pathology, artifacts, and equipment limitations during direct patient care.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Cardiographic Tech specializing in Vascular Interpretation credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Vascular Sonography (ARRT-VS) also accepted.
    • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Any specialty accepted.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree required.
