Space Based Interceptor Intermediate Analyst – Management/Execution Support

JOB LOCATION: Huntsville, AL, Redstone Arsenal

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: SECRET

TRAVEL: Up to 20%

 

 

 

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Analyst supporting the Missile Defense Agency’s Director of Test (DT) Flight Test Directorate at the Von Braun Complex on the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Astrion is at the forefront of new missile defense technologies and supports the MDA’s rigorous operational and developmental testing. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

 

  • BA/BS in a field pertinent to the position being filled; 5 additional years relevant experience may be substituted for the BA/BS degree requirement
  • 7 years of recent relevant experience
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge of Missile Defense System components and system-level topics
  • Experience working in a fast paced, professional environment with the ability to adjust/react to short notice requirements changes, deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events
  • Capable of working as a team member to solve engineering problems to solve test planning, integration, execution, and analysis problems
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

 

  • In depth knowledge of the Missile Defense System (MDS) capability
  • In depth knowledge of MDA test planning, processes and execution
  • Experience in developing standardized plans, processes, and checklists
  • Self-motivated; possess strong oral and written communication skills, and have ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
  • Proficient with Windows-based PC software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The SBI intermediate analyst will provide programmatic, technical, and analytical support for either the Mission Execution or System Mission Manager teams.

 

Mission Execution:

 

Mission execution support will consist of support to Mission Test Directors, reporting daily activities and products throughout the planning and execution of complex missions, leading a small team in developing and maintaining documentation, coordination, and consultation that directly reflects and impacts the Mission Test Directors.

 

Mission Execution support responsibilities:

 

  • Develop mission checklists that provide real-time updates to various stakeholders and mission assets
  • Deploy and manage the Operational Dashboard (OPDASH) to provide real-time mission status, including countdown clocks, asset readiness, and checklist progress during flight tests
  • Facilitate and execute well-structured Mission Execution Team Working Group (METWG) planning meetings to optimize coordination, ensure alignment, and drive efficient decision-making
  • Support all phases of test planning, training, and execution of Tier 1/2/3 test environments in accordance with the current Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Perform programmatic analyst review for test activities pre- and post-events, providing lessons learned inputs and supporting panel reviews
  • Produce test procedures, detailing time-critical events supporting the Mission Countdown Events (CDE). Update mission documentation as calendar adjustments are scheduled
  • Integrate complex test requirements into a structured framework, identifying and mitigating risks in advance, and maintaining alignment across all stakeholders
  • Support test integration and planning meetings, BMDS CONOPS Phase Reviews, and data archival meetings, as directed
  • Provide direct on-console support to key Mission Execution Team (MET) leadership, including the Mission (MTD), Associate Operations (AOTD), and Sensors (SNTD) Test Directors during mission execution

 

System Mission Management:

 

System Mission Management support will prepare decision-quality materials such as executive level briefings and supporting documentation, assist with the development of planning meetings and MDA technical reviews, and provide on-site support to System Mission Managers (SMM) at deployed locations for assigned flight test missions.

 

System Mission Management support responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and refine mission planning, readiness, and execution support documentation
  • Manage the coordination, consolidation, and preparation of project deliverables
  • Prepare decision-quality materials such as executive level briefings and supporting documentation (white papers, fact sheets, status reports, progress reports, and information papers) for senior level reviews and mission milestone decision meetings
  • Facilitate with the development of planning meetings, MDA technical reviews, and other meetings, as directed
  • Coordinate DTFI-M by developing, reviewing, and coordinating responses/inputs to numerous MDA and Director of Test (DT) Program Office-generated actions covering a wide range of internal and external topics
  • Provide on-site support to System Mission Managers (SMM) at deployed locations for assigned flight test missions
  • Identify, generate and manage schedules, requirements and other documentation in support of flight test operations
  • Develop and present inputs for weekly test community meetings and working groups to include briefing charts and meeting attendance
  • Performs stakeholder coordination across multi-disciplinary working groups and integrated teams. Resolves issues affecting flight testing and schedule de-confliction, and reviews and provide input on all flight test event documentation
