Overview

The Cape Cod Collaborative is an educational organization providing a full range of instructional and support services to the students, parents and public school staff of our 20 member districts, whose needs are best addressed through a multi-district effort. Our student services include: alternative education programs for low incident, special needs populations; programs for the multi-handicapped; therapy and services for students requiring specialized support; and a full range of transportation services for both the special needs and general education population. We coordinate collegial sharing opportunities for various professional groups, conduct executive searches and offer a wide range of professional development and training opportunities for the educators and support personnel of our member districts. #WeAreOneCollaborative

Job Description

The STAR Program (Osterville) is a specialized program supporting students with significant learning and behavioral challenges. There are openings for teachers with certification in Moderate Disabilities and certification in Intensive Special Needs.

Performance Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

- Understanding of ASD and related disorders

- Understanding of students with multiple medical needs

- BA & Development of Positive Behavior Support Plans (including reinforcement systems, visual contracts, etc.)

- Ability to manage challenging behaviors

- Understanding of augmentative communication skills

- Understanding of pragmatics / social skills needs

- Development and modification of curriculum

- Collaboration and integration of therapies

- Assessment of data collection for developing IEPs

- Conduct state and local assessments, including alternative portfolios

- Develop data collection systems to ensure proper reporting of student progress

- Supervise and train paraprofessionals

- Other duties as directed by Program Director

Qualifications

- Required Massachusetts licensure: Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities PK-8 or Severe All Levels

- SEI Endorsement, preferred.

- Master's degree with an emphasis in Special Education, preferred

- Safety Care Training preferred or willing to be trained.

- Experience with the use of specialized teaching techniques used with special education students.

- Ability to design or modify cirriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments for students with disabilities.

- Ability to implement behavioral management strategies.

- Such other alternatives as the Program Director/Director of Special Education may deem acceptable and appropriate.

Salary: $63,105 - $109,521
