Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented SQL Developer to join our dynamic data and analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes that support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting initiatives. This role requires strong expertise in SQL Server technologies, data integration, and reporting tools, with additional proficiency in Python for automation and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Development: Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects to support business applications and data workflows.
- Reporting: Build, maintain, and enhance SSRS reports and interactive dashboards to deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders.
- ETL / Data Integration: Develop and manage SSIS packages for ETL processes, data migration, and integration between multiple systems.
- Automation & Analytics: Utilize Python for data manipulation, automation scripts, and advanced analytics tasks to streamline operations and improve data-driven decision-making.
- Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions.
- Data Quality & Performance: Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and reliability across systems, and continuously monitor performance for optimization.
- Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, ETL jobs, and reporting systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, workflows, and best practices for data management and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience as an SQL Developer or Database Engineer.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSRS, and SSIS.
- Hands-on experience with Python for data manipulation and automation.
- Solid understanding of ETL design patterns, data modeling, and database optimization.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in a cross-functional team environment.
Work Schedule
- Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite per week at Sempra’s Monterey Park, CA office.
- Occasional flexibility may be required based on project timelines and team needs.
