Position Overview

The Sr. Cybersecurity Analyst will support Air Force avionics development and sustainment programs by securing mission‑critical hardware and software systems operating in controlled and often disconnected environments. This role focuses on adjudicating DoD cybersecurity controls, supporting Authorization to Operate (ATO) packages, and ensuring compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) security guidance across avionics and embedded systems as they progress from EMD to ICS to full production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system security documentation including SSPs, POA&M entries, and control implementation narratives.
  • Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) across Windows, Linux, and embedded real‑time operating systems.
  • Perform vulnerability analysis and remediation planning for avionics subsystems and supporting infrastructure to include anticipating 48th cyber tests, and IS4S engineering development team needs.
  • Support cybersecurity activities in hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HITL) and software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL) test environments.
  • Assess cybersecurity risks associated with avionics bus protocols such as MIL‑STD‑1553 and ARINC 429.
  • Prepare technical briefings and written reports explaining security risks and mitigation strategies to Air Force program leadership.
  • Coordinate with system engineers, software developers, and program managers to integrate cybersecurity throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • 3–8 years of cybersecurity experience supporting DoD or Air Force systems.
  • CISSP
  • Hands‑on experience implementing NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
  • Experience applying DISA STIGs and conducting vulnerability remediation.
  • Understanding of avionics architectures or embedded systems security.
  • Strong technical writing and briefing skills for government stakeholders.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting 48th Test Squadron, Air Force weapon systems, and avionics programs.
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC 429, or other avionics bus architectures.
  • Experience working with hardware‑in‑the‑loop or avionics test labs.
  • Security certifications such as Security+ or CEH.
  • Experience supporting ATO packages for classified or air‑gapped environments.
  • Experience in ACAT1 programs moving from EMD to ICS to full production
  • Prior Military
  • TS/SCI clearance.
