Are you a seasoned software engineer who thrives on solving complex business challenges and building scalable enterprise solutions? We are seeking a Senior Development Engineer to help drive the design, development, and support of our Manhattan Active Warehouse Management System (WMS) platform. This role combines deep technical expertise, cloud engineering leadership, and mentorship responsibilities to deliver innovative solutions that power critical supply chain operations. You'll work closely with architects, product teams, and fellow engineers to shape the technical direction of our WMS ecosystem while leveraging modern development practices, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and cloud-native technologies.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What you'll do as a Sr Development Engineer, Manhattan Active:

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex software solutions supporting Manhattan Active WMS.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality applications, integrations, and services using Java and Python.
  • Drive enhancements, configuration, and deployment activities across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Architect and optimize MySQL databases, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Design, deploy, and support cloud-based solutions within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Analyze and resolve complex production issues, serving as a senior-level escalation point for critical incidents.
  • Lead code reviews and champion engineering standards, best practices, and secure coding principles.
  • Partner with architects, product owners, UX/UI teams, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs and implementation roadmaps.
  • Define and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and release processes.
  • Monitor and optimize application performance using observability, logging, and monitoring tools.
  • Drive application modernization, scalability, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and support procedures.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and code review feedback.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.


Qualifications you'll bring as a Sr Development Engineer, Manhattan Active Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Java, including object-oriented design, software architecture, and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in Python for application development, automation, and system integration.
  • Advanced experience with MySQL, including database design, SQL optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and cloud engineering best practices.
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows and branching strategies.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, software testing, and application lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and modern DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience working within cloud environments such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.

This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standard.

  • You’ll build and grow a capable MDM/data-governance team, instill best practices and stewardship, and embed data-quality culture across the business.
  • You’ll help McLane scale its operations, support business growth, and leverage data as a strategic asset across merchandising, logistics, supply chain, and commerce.
