Job Purpose/Overview
The primary purpose of the Sr. Oracle APEX (SQL) Developer role is to lead and manage initiatives surrounding the development and enhancement of the LSA Portal, a custom Oracle system designed for managing Antech Client Contracts, Payment Coupons, Pricing Requests, and Compliance Reporting. This role is critical in enhancing the organization’s operational efficiency through the development and optimization of Oracle APEX code.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new projects and making enhancements to the LSA Portal, optimizing existing code, and ensuring robust system performance. A strong focus will be on writing advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL procedures, requiring a solid technical foundation and practical experience.
Effective cross-departmental communication is essential, as the role involves working closely with various teams and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Staying updated on the latest developments in Oracle APEX and related technologies will be necessary to ensure that the LSA Portal continues to meet organizational needs effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop Advanced Web Applications: Utilize Oracle APEX (version 18 and higher) to develop advanced, multi-browser web applications, incorporating PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and JSON.
Write Advanced SQL and PL/SQL: Craft advanced SQL queries and write PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and packages, aligning with the organization’s data management and retrieval needs.
Optimize Query Performance: Tune SQL queries for optimal execution times on large-scale databases with several million rows, ensuring system efficiency and responsiveness.
Navigate and Utilize REST API: Demonstrate a thorough understanding and proficiency in navigating and leveraging REST APIs, integrating external services and data sources efficiently, and ensuring seamless interoperability and enhanced functionality of the developed applications.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to manage requested projects, understand business requirements, and achieve objectives, ensuring the timely completion of projects.
Stay Current on Industry Trends: Remain informed of emerging technologies and industry trends and integrate relevant advancements into operations and activities.
Investigate Exceptions: Proactively investigate and address exceptions ensuring data integrity and compliance with organizational standards.
Documentation: Create and update comprehensive technical and functional documentation to ensure clear understanding and maintainability of the developed applications.
Participate in Enterprise Initiatives and Special Projects: Be available to participate in broader enterprise initiatives, special projects, and perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall organizational goals.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a 4-year college required and/or equivalent 5+ years related experience preferred.
Advanced understanding of relational Databases gained through 5+ years’ experience.
Understanding of the Veterinary diagnostic industry is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, and relational database architecture
Strong Knowledge of HTML4/5, JavaScript, CSS, XML, REST API, TOAD, ORACLE Application Express 18+, OBIEE/BI Publisher 12
Ability to work independently, proactively, and across teams to share trends, analyses, and recommendations.
Strong ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to solve practical problems, define cause and effect with demonstrated troubleshooting and investigation skills.

Travel
There is not notable travel in this position but could be asked to travel on occasion up to 10% of the time.

The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office or virtual environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment or a remote home office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, video conferencing and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams. Environment where pets are present.
The Target Pay Range for this position is $101,430 - $115,000 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
