Job description

Help Accelerate Industrial Decarbonization

Join exceptional people from around the world to solve some of the world's toughest energy challenges, make a real impact, and enjoy the adventure of building the future of industrial decarbonization together.

As our Structural Engineer – Material Testing & Structural Validation, you'll play a key role in developing the lightweight structural systems that make GlassPoint's technology reliable, safe, and scalable.

Working closely with Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Operations teams, you'll combine advanced engineering analysis with hands-on testing to validate innovative designs and ensure they perform under real-world conditions. From small-scale material characterization to full-scale component testing, your work will directly influence the next generation of technology.

Your Impact

The structures you validate will become part of some of the world's largest industrial solar thermal plants, helping heavy industry reduce emissions while improving energy security.

You'll combine engineering theory with practical experimentation, transforming test results into optimized designs and helping GlassPoint continuously improve the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of its technology.

What You'll Do

Design & Improve Structural Systems

  • Analyze and optimize lightweight structural systems, components, and structural connections.
  • Evaluate the behavior of steel, aluminum, composite materials, and ETFE film systems.
  • Support the development of innovative structural concepts for industrial solar thermal applications.
  • Transform engineering insights into scalable, manufacturable design improvements.

Lead Material & Component Testing

  • Plan, build, execute, and evaluate material and component tests.
  • Design and instrument full-scale structural testing.
  • Conduct small-specimen material testing to characterize material behavior.
  • Analyze test results and translate findings into engineering recommendations.

Develop & Validate Engineering Models

  • Develop, calibrate, and improve nonlinear finite element (FEA) models.
  • Predict structural behavior using numerical simulations.
  • Validate simulation results through physical testing.
  • Continuously refine engineering models to improve design accuracy.

Collaborate Across Engineering

  • Work closely with Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.
  • Support design decisions through data-driven engineering.
  • Contribute to solving complex structural challenges across international projects.
  • Share technical expertise and help drive continuous innovation.

Who You Are

You're someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and turning analysis into practical solutions.

You combine analytical thinking with a hands-on mindset and enjoy moving between simulations, laboratory testing, and real-world engineering. You're curious, collaborative, and motivated by seeing your work become part of technologies that make a global impact.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (ideally with a background in construction, civil engineering, or automotive engineering).
  • Several years of experience in structural, material, or component testing.
  • Experience working with nonlinear material behavior and structural analysis.
  • Strong experience with numerical modelling and nonlinear FEA.
  • Hands-on experience planning and executing engineering tests.
  • Familiarity with sensors, instrumentation, and measurement systems.
  • A structured, analytical, and independent working style.
  • Confidence working in an international engineering environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills; German is an advantage.
  • Experience with foundation systems for solar structures, soil testing, rammed piles, ground screws, or percussion drilling is a plus.

What You'll Find at GlassPoint

  • Real ownership and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact from day one.
  • Exceptional colleagues from diverse disciplines who challenge, support, and learn from each other.
  • Complex challenges that require curiosity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • An international team united by a shared purpose and ambitious goals.
  • The adventure of helping build the future of industrial decarbonization.

We value inclusion and foster a culture of belonging, welcoming team members of all backgrounds, regardless of gender, gender identity, nationality, ethnic or social background, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, bullying, or retaliation.

GlassPoint helps heavy industry decarbonize by replacing fuel-based steam with solar thermal heat. This reduces energy costs and improves long-term energy security. We’re a proven technology, already operating some of the world’s largest solar steam projects across sun-belt regions in oil and gas, metals, and mining.

The pay range for this role is:

60000.00 - 66000.00 EUR per year (Germany)
