ICF won a new research and development task order supporting a world class research laboratory in Maryland.  ICF will help the Army develop new artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to solve current and future problems facing the DoD. 

We’re currently hiring to support the broad and complex scope of work, including:

• Software development in Java, Python, C++ and other languages to aid in research experiments and publications

• System engineering of High Performance Computers

• Running big data technologies like Hadoop

• The management of tier 1 level Internet infrastructure

As the System Administrator you will:

• Support a High Performance Computing Center (HPC)
• Maintain and troubleshoot complex hardware architectures, installation and configuration of system and end user software
• Manage access control, queueing systems and resource allocation
• Support software development for system tools, maintenance, analysis, and configuration
• Communicate in a clear concise manner with HPC center customers, as well as other Government Contractor and Government staff

  Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DOD Clearance
  • BS in a technical field
  • 5+ or more years in a system administration role to include:
    • Performing system monitoring
    • Storage capacity management
    • Performance tuning
    • System infrastructure development
    • 2+ years of experience in deploying and administering a large Hadoop cluster
    • Ability to isolate and troubleshoot Hadoop service issues using a combination of system and Hadoop logs and monitoring\/alerting systems
    • Experience administering a data warehouse and analytics infrastructure using YARN, Spark, Hive, and HBase
    • Experience with configuration of Java framework
    • Experience with Python and Bash. Additional experience with Scala, Java, or R is preferred
    • Experience with a configuration management tool such as Puppet or Chef
    • Detailed knowledge of basic OS administration tasks such as configuring PAM and Kerberos authentication, disk quota, ulimit, etc. and managing security patches
    • Experience configuring and using monitoring tools such as Grafana or Ambari to diagnose cluster issues and propose operational enhancements
    • Experience configuring and working with Hadoop in a Kerberos environment

      Preferred Skills\/Experience:

      • Experience with Ambari Manager
      • Experience with Phoenix, management of Hive and Spark UDF’s and management of PySpark and Scala dependencies
      • Experience with Redhat or CentOS
      • Experience with Knox and Nifi
