BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems is seeking a High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Engineer to design, implement, and manage HPC systems and applications. The HPC Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the design of high-performance computing infrastructure, delivering efficient performance, and ensuring the reliability and security of the computing environment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in information technology, with expertise in parallel computing, system administration, and a deep understanding of HPC hardware and software environments.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, implement, and manage high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
- Work closely with engineers to optimize HPC applications.
- Develop and execute strategies for HPC system performance tuning and optimization.
- Manage HPC system software stack, including the operating system, cluster manager, schedulers, and tools.
- Ensure the security and integrity of HPC systems, applications, and data.
- Document system configurations, changes, and problem resolutions.
- Provide technical support and training for HPC system users.
- Research and evaluate new technologies for HPC system enhancement.
- Monitor system performance and usage to ensure system reliability and stability.
- Participate in the planning and execution of disaster recovery procedures.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 6 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required.
- Proven experience as a High Performance Computing Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of Linux operating systems and system administration tasks.
- Experience with HPC schedulers, cluster management, and parallel file systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

- RedHat Enterprise Linux Certified.
- Proficiency with NVIDIA Bright Cluster Manager/Base Command Manage.
- Proficiency with OpenPBS, PBS Pro, LSF, and Slurm schedulers.
- Experience with engineering software including Ansys, Matlab, Nastran, Vivad.
- Experience with DELL servers and storage.
