Job Duties:
Plan, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate maintenance and construction projects at the unit.
Supervise maintenance staff, assign work, and ensure labor, materials, equipment, and other resources are used efficiently.
Inspect maintenance work and construction projects to ensure they meet safety requirements, building codes, agency policies, and other regulations.
Identify maintenance problems, recommend solutions, and advise management on proposed and ongoing projects.
Prepare budgets, project records, technical reports, quality-assurance updates, and work-progress reports.
Train staff, provide technical assistance, and help maintain the security of assigned inmates.
You'd be a GOOD fit if:
You have at least five years of facilities maintenance, maintenance administration, or construction experience.
You have at least two years of experience supervising employees or inmates.
You understand facility maintenance and construction practices, materials, codes, and safety standards.
You can organize multiple projects, establish priorities, and make sure work is properly planned and documented.
You can read blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications.
You communicate clearly, solve administrative problems, and maintain accurate reports and project records.
You'd be a GREAT fit if:
You have experience managing a unit-wide maintenance and construction program.
You have strong experience developing budgets, policies, procedures, project schedules, and quality-control standards.
You have experience conducting inspections and reporting compliance issues to management.
You have worked with water or wastewater plant operations or maintenance.
You currently hold a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality water or wastewater license.
You are experienced in supervising and training maintenance staff or inmate work crews and can provide technical guidance across multiple maintenance areas.
