Job Description

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers University is seeking applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Instructor CY position. The successful candidate will serve as the Chemical and Chemical Biology (CCB) Department’s Academic Coordinator/Instructor. Expected to successfully interact with faculty, students, staff and personnel across the University, as well as external entities. A background in Chemistry, as well as excellent writing and grant writing skills, administration aptitude, and coordination skills are essential. Academic Coordinator/Instructor will work closely with Department Chair, Undergraduate and Graduate Vice-Chairs, Manager of Academic Support Services, and Program Coordinators to meet course and Departmental needs and logistics for lecture and laboratory courses with a combined annual enrollment >15,000. Will instruct advanced undergraduates in methods of teaching first-year chemistry lab, as well as identify and assist in the assignment of other teaching assistants; assist in development, tracking, and oversight of instructional budget; serve as academic advising resource for all students, particularly majors. Will also be expected to identify funding sources supporting students and programs, such as grant applications, scholarships, gift opportunities, and partnerships.
