Requirements
We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Engineering Tech Lead to drive the delivery of scalable, cloud-native applications and business products.
In this role, you will bridge hands-on software delivery with technical leadership. You will establish coding frameworks, make key architectural decisions, and champion engineering excellence—all while coaching and mentoring a team of software engineers. Working closely with Product Owners, Engineering Managers, QA, and Architecture teams, you will lead Scrum delivery from Definition of Ready through to Definition of Done.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Technical Leadership & Coding: Set technical direction, establish core coding frameworks, and lead by example by producing high-quality, scalable full-stack code.
- Team Coaching & Culture: Mentor and coach engineers across all levels, promote continuous improvement, and foster an inclusive, high-performing team environment.
- Agile & Delivery Ownership: Lead sprint ceremonies (Daily Scrums, Planning, Retrospectives) and collaborate with Product Owners to refine requirements and ensure predictable delivery.
- Architecture & Modernisation: Design and deliver microservices, event-driven architectures, and containerised applications deployed to cloud environments.
- DevOps & Quality Standards: Partner with System and QA Engineers to embed CI/CD automation, robust testing, and smooth deployments (e.g., Azure Kubernetes Service).
- Innovation & AI Integration: Drive engineering innovation by introducing modern tooling, refining AI-assisted development practices, and participating in our wider Engineering Community of Practice.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Lead Engineer, guiding teams to deliver cloud-based applications.
- Full-Stack & Cloud Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with C# / .NET and Microsoft Azure, alongside frontend capabilities with modern web frameworks (e.g. Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS).
- Distributed Architecture: Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven architectures, RESTful APIs, and messaging protocols.
- Containers & DevOps: Solid experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles.
- Pragmatic AI Experience: Daily familiarity with AI coding tools, with proven ability to critique, correct, and govern AI-generated output—plus experience guiding teams on how to effectively leverage AI for refactoring, testing, and documentation.
- Agile Mastery: Deep familiarity with Scrum and Lean practices, with a track record of driving work items from refinement to production readiness.
- Mentorship & Communication: Outstanding communication skills, with a passion for coaching engineers and explaining technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable (Bonus points if you have):
- Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
- Formal Scrum certification (Scrum Master or Certified Scrum Developer).
- Experience in CPaaS or high-throughput multi-channel messaging platforms (SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, Voice, Email).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills using Terraform or Bicep.
- Hands-on experience with ASP.NET Core and modern Azure Kubernetes deployments.
