Job description

Description

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth! Amazon is a place where builders can build. We hire the world's brightest minds and offer them an environment in which they can invent and innovate to improve the experience for our customers. If you'd like to help us build a place where you can find and buy anything online, this is the job for you.

The AWS Data Center Community (DCC) organization is looking for an individual with proven and tested leadership skills to join the Facility Operation Center (FOC) team. The FOC launched as a singular support team to proactively monitor the life-safety systems and the infrastructure equipment alarms that provides power and cooling to the platform on a global 24x7x365 basis. We support Data Center Engineer Operations teams who are responsible for the operation of infrastructure equipment.

The FOC TPM owns complex programs within the Facility Operations Center, managing the full lifecycle of cross-functional technology initiatives that span multiple teams across the DCC organization and adjacent stakeholder groups. You deliver independently with limited guidance, driving clarity where the business problem, program strategy, and technology solutions may not yet be defined. You are accountable for defining program vision, securing organizational alignment, and delivering critical solutions that measurably improve operational efficiency, engineering capability, and event response quality at a global scale.

As a program owner, you are accountable for the end-to-end strategy and execution of your program area — not just individual projects within it. You define the program roadmap, identify dependencies across organizations, negotiate resources and priorities with senior leadership, and manage the lifecycle of complex initiatives from concept through delivery and sustainment. You unblock teams, increase speed of delivery, and find a path forward in difficult situations. You make trade-offs between short-term operational needs and long-term strategic goals, and you escalate effectively when required.

You drive clarity by working backwards from customer impact, identifying systemic issues through data analysis, and building the strategic case for investment. You influence system owners, architecture decisions, and organizational priorities within the FOC organization.

Key job responsibilities
- Owns and drives the strategy and execution of a large FOC program, managing the full lifecycle of complex, cross-functional technology initiatives from concept through delivery and sustainment across multiple teams and regions.

- Contributes to vision and roadmap designs where business problems and solutions may not yet be defined, driving clarity through data analysis, customer impact assessment, and stakeholder engagement within the VP org.

- Define business problems, resultant solutions and develop risk strategy. Deliver independently, with limited guidance.

- Designs, builds, and owns scalable mechanisms and frameworks (Workflows, certification programs, documentation standards) that force multiply operational excellence across the global FOC and stakeholder teams.

- Owns the global FOC training architecture — designing learning content, practical assessments, certification mechanisms, and instructor-led programs that ensure engineers meet the bar for engineering knowledge across all regions.

- Drives efficiency at scale by identifying and delivering automation programs that eliminate classes of manual work, meeting or exceeding KPIs in project delivery and program quality (85%+ threshold).

- Contributes to cross-organizational collaboration — negotiating resources and priorities with stakeholder teams, resolving contentious cross-team issues, and implementing new processes that reduce waste and improve service delivery.

- Experience in the areas of content strategy, strategic or financial planning and strategy execution, in a global capacity

- Experience providing excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interfacing with senior leadership
