We are seeking a temporary Technical Support Engineer, Linxus/Network Systems based out of our San Diego office, to develop support procedures for custom server software installation and to support Bionano Genomics customers globally. This role serves as the first line of customer contact on customer cluster configuration, software upgrade and other IT-related issues.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Define and document procedure of customer cluster configuration
• Configure customer cluster to install Bionano Genomics Software
• Review network requirements and facilitate on-site Saphyr instrument installation
• Upgrade Bionano Genomics Software at Bionano Data Solutions
• Provide critical product improvement feedback to development teams
• Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming email and phone requests from customers
• Accurate and timely documentation of customer inquiries and problems using Salesforce
• Possible early morning and late evening shift, if required
• Willing to travel up to 20% (International included)
• Initially, will focus on development of new tools and procedures for Bionano software installation on various server clusters at customer sites. Later will focus on supporting customers and updating procedures as needed.
Skills & Education Requirements
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related disciplines along with 3+ years of industry experience
• 5+ years of Linux (preferred CentOS or RedHat) Administration experiences
• Proficient in Sun Grid Engine, Slurm, Torque and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with Python/R/Perl/C++ installation
• Good understanding of basic PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of enterprise storage systems and file protocols such as NFS
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding documentation and verbal communication skills
• Customer-focused and team-player mindset
• HPC background with performance emphasis
Desired experiences or skills
• Experiences in Spectrum LSF, Mesos, Moab, Oracle Grid Engine, Yarn etc.
• Strong network skills (Network+ certification)
• DevOps experience.
