Job description

Description

Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced ground-breaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

We are seeking a Test Engineer to design, develop, and implement test solutions that support diagnostics, screening, repair verification, and refurbishment quality assurance for Amazon Devices. You will be hands-on — writing test scripts, building fixtures, analyzing failure data, and driving design improvements. You will work cross-functionally with product design, service engineering, operations, and software teams to ensure repaired and refurbished devices meet quality standards before re-entering the customer ecosystem.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic qualifications

3+ years of consumer electronics experience
Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware, or experience debugging, profiling, and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems
Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

Preferred qualifications

Experience in technical support, or experience in Linux and Networking protocols and experience in networking administration and troubleshooting
Experience scripting or coding
Experience in operational excellence, continuous improvement, or process improvement roles
Experience working with and managing third party vendors

Key job responsibilities
Test Development & Execution
• Design, develop, and validate end-to-end test sequences for customer return screening, repair verification, and refurbishment quality assurance
• Write and maintain automated test scripts and diagnostic software for Amazon Device products
• Create and maintain test coverage documents (TCDs) for NPI and sustaining programs
• Design, build, and deploy test fixtures, jigs, and diagnostic tooling to support testing
• Execute hands-on testing, root cause analysis, and failure characterization
• Debug and troubleshoot test fixture issues to minimize downtime at repair sites
• Own test readiness deliverables for new product introductions within Reverse Logistics
