Job Summary
The Automation Engineer / Automation Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing automation solutions that reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and support digital transformation initiatives. The role requires strong hands-on capability in Python, PowerShell, scripting, user interface development, SQL, PLSQL, and database development. The position will work closely with infrastructure, operations, application, database, service delivery, and DevOps teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver reusable, scalable, and well-documented solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Development • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise automation solutions for IT operations and business workflows. • Develop reusable automation frameworks, scripts, utilities, and modules to reduce manual intervention. • Create self-service, self-healing, and auto-remediation solutions where feasible. • Automate repetitive operational tasks, scheduled activities, reporting workflows, data extraction, and service request fulfillment. • Support automation solution deployment, maintenance, enhancement, and troubleshooting. Python Development • Develop Python-based automation tools, backend services, scripts, APIs, and data-processing utilities. • Use Python frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI for automation portals, REST APIs, and lightweight applications. • Implement error handling, logging, configuration management, and reusable code libraries. • Debug, optimize, and enhance existing Python scripts and automation workflows. PowerShell & Scripting • Develop PowerShell scripts for Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, server, endpoint, and infrastructure automation. • Build command-line and scheduled automation utilities for operational teams. • Maintain scripting standards, version control, documentation, and script reusability. • Troubleshoot script failures and improve automation stability and performance. User Interface / Portal Development • Develop user-friendly web interfaces, dashboards, and forms for automation execution and reporting. • Build UI components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, React, Angular, or similar technologies as required. • Integrate front-end components with Python back-end services, APIs, databases, and automation workflows. • Ensure usability, input validation, basic security controls, and maintainable UI design. Database Development • Develop and maintain SQL and PLSQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, packages, views, triggers, and database jobs. • Design and optimize database queries for automation, reporting, and integration use cases. • Work with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar RDBMS platforms. • Support database-driven automation workflows, data validation, data transformation, and reporting needs. Integration, DevOps & Governance • Integrate automation solutions with REST APIs, ServiceNow, monitoring tools, cloud platforms, Git repositories, and CI/CD pipelines. • Use Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms for source control and release management. • Prepare technical design documents, SOPs, runbooks, deployment guides, and support documentation. • Participate in code reviews, testing, quality checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
