Job Description

Shaping the Future of Road Safety

At Altus Group, we don’t just manage traffic, we’re changing the playbook for how safety, technology, and people come together on Australia’s roads. As the country’s leading traffic management provider, we’re driven by innovation, grounded in safety, and committed to giving road workers and traffic controllers the tools they need to get home safe every day.

We’re now searching for a leader who’s ready to step into the driver’s seat of our digital operations. This is your opportunity to lead change, guide teams, and deliver safer, smarter outcomes for every person on the road.

As Traffic Operations Manager – Workzone Digitisation, you’ll be at the cutting edge of digital transformation in the traffic management industry. This isn’t your normal operations role, it’s about leading the deployment of new technology that’s redefining how safety is delivered on worksites across the country.

You’ll oversee the safe and compliant rollout of digital traffic solutions, manage commercial trials, and ensure every deployment meets the highest standards. Reporting to the Head of Digital, you’ll work alongside a team of internal champions who are passionate about reshaping the industry and making road worker safety smarter, faster, and stronger.

What You’ll Do

Operational Excellence

  • Deliver outstanding support to clients and teams, resolving challenges with practical, effective solutions.
  • Lead digital transformation across states, guiding Altus Digital Champions through the journey.
  • Manage planning, execution, and monitoring of deployments
  • Maintain detailed training and competency records while ensuring teams are confident with the latest tech.
  • Provide on-the-ground support during rollouts. Hands-on, not just behind the desk.
  • Travel nationally to lead, support, and deliver where it matters most.

Organisational Impact

  • Collaborate with the digital leadership team to drive business-wide success.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and industry.
  • Equip traffic controllers with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a digital-first environment.

Safety & Quality Standards

  • Champion compliance with legislation, procedures, and Altus Group’s Life Saving Rules.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of uncompromising safety.
  • Ensure every deployment sets the benchmark for both digital efficiency and physical protection.

What You Bring

  • Solid experience in traffic control operations.
  • Proven supervisory or training background in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Safety-first mindset, supported by current traffic control certifications.
  • Confident communication skills and a leadership style that brings people along with you.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and delivering operational excellence.

Why Altus Group

Because at Altus Group, traffic management is more than a service, it’s a safeguard for communities and road workers. We’re proud of the vital role our traffic controllers play every single day in keeping people safe on the road. Our job is to back them with the best technology, systems, and leadership so they can focus on what matters most: protecting lives.

This is your chance to lead the next era of traffic management and leave a lasting mark on road safety in Australia.
