Job description

About Citi

Citi, the leading global bank, has approximately 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions. Citi provides consumers, corporations, governments, and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services, and wealth management. Our core activities are safeguarding assets, lending money, making payments, and accessing the capital markets on behalf of our clients.

Team Overview

Onboarding Master Central (OMC) is the technology platform that orchestrates the client onboarding functions of multiple business domains, empowering clients and operations teams with interactive tools, APIs, and real-time information to automate and streamline onboarding workflows across areas such as Legal, Credit, Know Your Customer (KYC), and Account opening.

Serving as a unified portal, OMC is designed to streamline the onboarding process for new client accounts and facilitate client footprint expansions within Markets and Custody operations. It acts as the central entry point for securely capturing necessary client data and documents, and for initiating critical processes such as account/entity creation, KYC procedures, and Credit and Legal reviews. Despite the inherent complexities in workflow processes and diverse business organizations, OMC simplifies the request flow by ensuring complete task accountability, robust audit controls, and accurate Service Level Agreement (SLA) capturing, leading to improved expense reduction through enhanced Straight-Through Processing (STP). By leveraging the latest technologies, OMC provides best-in-class client onboarding services, effectively speeding up request and data flow processes across various business and operational functions.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our Full-Stack development team. This role offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact the global client onboarding experience by building the future of our platform. The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to a large-scale, modern technology platform with global reach, playing a crucial role in shaping how we serve our clients.

The Application Development Technology Lead is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities to expand and modernize the OMC technology platform. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and resilient software solutions that support Citi's global business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the technical design, architecture, and development of complex applications, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns. Apply strong design principles and adhere to complex architectural standards.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Develop common, reusable components and services, adhering to Citi’s best practices.
  • Design and develop high-performance, low-latency applications within existing Citi frameworks.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of developed components.
  • Adopt an engineering mindset, thoroughly understanding use-cases, estimating volume and compute velocity requirements, and openly discussing implementation challenges and solutions.
  • Actively contribute to system design and architectural decisions.
  • Evaluate new strategic initiatives through Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and transition successful concepts into robust, industrial-grade solutions.
  • Provide post-release support to business, development, and support teams.
  • Develop applications adhering to best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), high unit test coverage, and Continuous Integration (CI).

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 4+ years of hands-on Java development experience, including Spring, real-time messaging, and associated Java frameworks.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining highly scalable, real-time microservices and RESTful APIs.

  • Strong fundamentals in software development, data structures, design patterns, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), architecture, algorithms, and problem-solving.

Nice to Have:
