The Opportunity
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building production software from front to back. You'll spend your time developing new features, maintaining existing systems, designing APIs, solving complex engineering problems, and partnering closely with teammates to deliver reliable software.
In the near term, you'll help ensure a smooth transition of ownership for BRAVO while learning the platform from our current engineer. Longer term, you'll help modernize the platform and contribute to Brkthru's broader investments in automation, AI, and internal tooling.
Responsibilities:
Application Development
- Design, build, test, and deploy production features across the BRAVO platform.
- Develop full-stack applications spanning React, Node.js, APIs, and PostgreSQL.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Debug production issues and improve system reliability.
Platform Ownership
- Become a primary technical owner of BRAVO.
- Improve platform performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Identify technical debt and recommend architectural improvements.
- Contribute to long-term platform modernization.
Engineering Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
- Help maintain development standards and engineering best practices.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Build and maintain services hosted within AWS.
- Work with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment automation.
- Monitor application health and production environments.
Experience
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience building React applications.
- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience working in AWS cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
- Comfortable debugging production applications.
Tech Stack:
- Frontend: React 19, TypeScript, Vite, TanStack Query, Zustand, Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Node.js, Express, Bun, TRPC, Database, PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront), Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions
- Testing: Jest, Playwright
Project & Collaboration Skills
- Experience managing technical work within Jira or similar tools
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Travel/Onsite Requirements:
- Brkthru operates as a remote-first company with occasional mandatory travel for training and offsites, provided with advance notice. We uphold the expectation that all team members maintain a dedicated and reliable workspace, free from distractions, to ensure optimal productivity.
- This role requires travel 2-3 times per year for our offsites. Travel instances are typically 3-5 days at a time.
