Lead DevOps Engineer

About the Role 

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the DevOps and Platform Engineering domain of our eCommerce Platform. 

You will drive the evolution of our engineering platform, improve software delivery capabilities, define engineering standards, and ensure the reliability, security and scalability of our production environments. 

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will work closely with Software Architects, Development Teams, Infrastructure Operations and Product Engineering while mentoring engineers and continuously improving our DevOps practices. 

Responsibilities 

• Own and evolve the DevOps strategy and engineering practices for the eCommerce Platform. 

• Define standards, guidelines and best practices for software delivery, automation and infrastructure management. 

• Lead technical decisions related to CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, deployment architecture and operational tooling. 

• Mentor DevOps engineers and development teams, fostering engineering excellence and knowledge sharing. 

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across development and operational processes. 

Platform Engineering 

• Design, implement and continuously improve scalable software delivery pipelines. 

• Drive automation across build, release and deployment processes. 

• Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code and configuration management standards. 

• Improve developer experience through standardized tooling and automation. 

• Ensure engineering platforms remain maintainable, secure and operationally efficient. 

Reliability & Operations 

• Ensure high availability, resilience and disaster recovery capabilities of the platform. 

• Lead production incident management, root cause analysis and post-incident improvements. 

• Drive observability, monitoring, logging and alerting strategies. 

• Improve platform stability through proactive operational excellence initiatives. 

Security & Governance 

• Promote DevSecOps principles throughout the software delivery lifecycle. 

• Participate in security initiatives, infrastructure hardening and compliance activities. 

• Ensure security and operational best practices are embedded into engineering processes. 

Collaboration 

• Partner with Software Architects on platform evolution and technical roadmaps. 

• Collaborate with multiple Agile development teams in a shared DevOps model. 

• Support prioritization of engineering initiatives, balancing business needs, platform stability and technical debt. 

• Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing and engineering communities. 

Your Profile 

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering. 

• Proven experience leading DevOps initiatives within complex enterprise environments. 

• Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills. 

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities. 

• Strong communication skills with fluent written and spoken English. 

• Comfortable working in international Agile teams. 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. 

Technical Expertise

• Enterprise application architectures and software development lifecycle. 

• On-premises infrastructure with selective cloud integration. 

Technologies You Are Likely to Work With 

• Git-based source control and CI/CD platforms (e.g. GitLab, Azure DevOps) 

• Infrastructure as Code and automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) 

• Container technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) 

• Monitoring and observability platforms (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana) 

• Linux and Windows Server environments 

• Hybrid infrastructure spanning on-premises and cloud environments 

Considered an Advantage 

• Experience designing enterprise DevOps platforms and engineering tooling. 

• Experience implementing GitOps and modern deployment practices. 

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration. 

• Experience supporting Java and/or .NET application platforms. 

• Experience working with Microsoft Azure. 

• Experience or strong interest in applying AI technologies to software engineering and DevOps workflows.
