The Joint, Office of the Secretary of War, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of War (DoW), Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. 

The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group (ATAG) within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the DoW. These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSW(A&S)), DARPA, Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future. 

We have an upcoming need for a Joint Staff Wargaming Support Analyst to provide onsite support at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. 

The candidate will support the Joint Staff/J-8 Studies, Analysis, and Gaming Division (SAGD) on tasks related to Joint Staff wargaming and the Wargaming Incentive Fund. This includes supporting the development and coordination of program-related assessments, studies, reports, and strategies, and supporting administrative planning, conceptual design, practical execution, and detailed reporting/analysis of wargames, tabletop exercises, and net assessments. The candidate will also serve as the lead for the multi-million-dollar Wargaming Incentive Fund, to include creation of Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs), Purchase Requests, budget forecasting, statistics, Defense Agencies Initiative and G-Invoicing, Dormant Account Review Quarterly continuous completion, and TDY traveler management. Finally, the candidate will support the Defense Wargaming Alignment Group (DWAG)assist with the management and updating of the DoW Wargaming Repository, and provide subject matter expertise and support for J-8 wargames and tabletop exercises as a Deputy Game Director or Facilitator. 

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience with military operations (as a service member or DoD civilian or contractor) 
  • Understanding of the role and value of DoW and Joint Staff wargaming 
  • Understanding of the role of the Joint Staff 
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Virginia, Pay Transparency Salary range: USD $90,000.00/Yr. - USD $125,000.00/Yr.
