Job Summary

 

The Student Assistant will support the Department of Continuing & Professional Education as a Program Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

 
  • Supports the planning, preparation, and delivery of conferences, youth programs, community programs, professional development programs, customized training, and special events
  • Provides welcoming and professional customer service to participants, instructors, presenters, clients, families, and campus partners
  • Assists with participant registration, check-in, check-out, attendance, and program transitions
  • Prepares, organizes, inventories, and distributes program materials, name badges, supplies, and participant packets
  • Assist with classroom and event setup and breakdown, including arranging tables, chairs, signage, materials, and equipment
  • Provides on-site logistical support during programs, conferences, and special events
  • Communicates with CPE staff, instructors, presenters, volunteers, and participants as directed
  • Enters, organizes, and maintains basic program information, attendance records, forms, evaluations, and other documentation
  • Assists with copying, filing, scanning, data entry, email communications, and other general administrative duties
  • Monitors and assists youth participants as assigned to support their safety, engagement, and appropriate supervision
  • Accompanies participants during activities, field trips, meals, or transitions between campus locations when assigned
  • Helps maintain required staff-to-participant ratios during youth programs
  • Assists with marketing and outreach activities, including preparing promotional materials and supporting campus or community events
  • Helps organize program supplies and maintain clean, orderly classrooms, workspaces, and storage areas
  • Follows University policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and program guidelines

     

Shift Specifics 

  • Up to 25 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available Monday - Friday
  • Occasional evenings, early mornings, or weekends based on program and event schedules

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience supporting programs, conferences, events, camps, or community activities
  • Experience working or volunteering with children or teenagers
  • Experience providing customer service or administrative support

Proposed Salary

 

$14.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
